Why big media is betting on a YouTube alternative

Mention the name YouTube around big media moguls and you’re sure to elicit a choice expletive or two. The Google-owned video-hosting site is growing exponentially and many media companies complain that their content is being illegally used to boost YouTube’s popularity. But now Viacom has announced a content licensing deal with Joost, the new online video start-up created by the founders of Skype and Kazaa. News.com’s Greg Sandoval explains why so many media companies are desperate to find an anti-YouTube before it’s too late.
