Google has released an updated developer sandbox for iGoogle, the company’s personal startpage service. The key new feature is support for OpenSocial APIs, which means that activities from Google Gadgets can be posted to activity streams on OpenSocial supporting networks. Jessica Ewing, Product Manager for iGoogle, offered the example of playing a game of pacman on your iGoogle page and then having your scores broadcast to your friends. Inversely, you could also of course see your friends scores right from within the gadget.

The other big addition is the ability for gadgets to now have their own canvas page, meaning you can now design a more detailed, full-screen version of your gadgets.

The updated developer site is available here, while in typical Google fashion, a YouTube video explains all that is new.
